“Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”

The above quote is an excerpt from the famous Marianne Williamson poem, A Return to Love. Do you believe it? Is it true? Are we really afraid that we can do this? That we can make it? That we can accomplish everything we really want to in our lives? I believe it. I think that Williamson’s words are so relevant that I had them posted on the reception area wall in our company’s HQ. I’m grateful for all the people in my life that help me realize the truth in those words on a regular basis.

Many times I was stymied by failure, or more accurately the fear of failure before I realized my real fear was of the power within me. I wish that we’d pay people, grade children, and promote leaders based on the mistakes that they’ve made. My most valuable experiences have been screwing something up and then learning from it. The best examples among those are when I learned something new, and also learned something about myself in the process.
